What A1 Spanish means
A1 is the first level of the CEFR scale. At A1 you can say hello, introduce yourself, talk about your family, order food and understand simple questions, as long as people speak slowly.
This deck covers exactly that: greetings, family, food, numbers, colours, days of the week and your first verbs, like "comer" (to eat) and "hablar" (to speak).
Learn nouns with their article
Every Spanish noun is masculine or feminine, and the article tells you which: "el pan", but "la casa". That is why every noun in this deck comes with "el" or "la". Learn them together from day one and you will not have to guess later.
How to study with spaced repetition
Spaced repetition (FSRS) shows you each word right before you would forget it. Words you know come back less often, and words you miss come back sooner, so ten minutes a day goes a long way.
Start with flip cards, then switch to typing the Spanish word. Recalling the answer yourself is what makes it stick. Listening mode helps you hear how each word sounds.
Questions students ask
How many words do you need for Spanish A1?
Estimates usually put A1 at around 500 to 700 words. This deck gives you 50 of the most useful ones to start, and you can add your own as you go.
Why does "el agua" use "el" if it is feminine?
Feminine nouns that start with a stressed "a" sound take "el" in the singular to make them easier to say. It is still feminine: "el agua fría".
