A free Quizlet alternative

Why students look for a free Quizlet alternative

Quizlet made flashcards popular, and it is still a good tool. But many of its study features need a paid plan, so a lot of students search for "Quizlet free" and end up stuck with only part of the app.

Flipsy takes a different approach: the learning itself is free and stays free. You only pay if you want extra storage, and even that is optional.

What's free on Flipsy

All of the studying: flip cards, multiple choice quizzes, typing the answer, listening mode, spaced repetition (FSRS) that schedules your reviews, and study streaks. There are no ads and no trial that runs out.

The free plan holds 10 folders, 30 sets and 500 cards per set. Pro only raises those storage limits. Every study mode works the same on both plans.

Switch from Quizlet in 30 seconds

1. Export your set from Quizlet as text.

2. Paste it into the Quizlet importer on Flipsy. Your terms and definitions turn into a Flipsy set in a few seconds. Anki exports work too.

3. Press Study and pick a mode. Spaced repetition starts tracking your cards from the first session.

An honest comparison

Quizlet has a huge library of public sets made by other students, and Flipsy is still building its own. If you mostly study sets that other people made, that is a real difference.

If you make your own cards, Flipsy gives you everything for free: every study mode, spaced repetition, PDF and text import, and free geography map quizzes on top. It works in any browser, so you can try it next to Quizlet and decide for yourself.
